1/16/2025
The exhibition Motorcycles with the Scent of Distant Places by Jaroslav Šíma is now in the museum in Lučany nad Nisou
After long preparations, an exhibition mapping the life of the legendary motorcycle traveler, journalist and photographer Jaroslav Šíma in one track was officially opened on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Auto Moto Museum in Lučany nad Nisou.
An impressive line of motorcycles with over 100,000 km of mileage is spiced up with, for example, the Stadion S11 moped that stood at the beginning of Jarda's story, artifacts from the journeys, period promotional and information materials and authentic rider equipment. It is also impossible not to mention a replica of the famous "pocket" Honda Monkey, on which Jarda traveled through Africa over 16,000 km! The event was attended by a large number of Jarda's fans and invited guests, and the atmosphere of the opening ceremony was very warm and pleasant. The hall where the screening and narration of travel experiences took place was filled with seated and standing fans to the very exit. The ceremonial ribbon cutting was a moment that Jarda, according to his words, enjoyed immensely and valued very much. The aforementioned collection is now a permanent part of the exhibition and is a pleasant addition to the museum tour, thanks to which visitors can take a moment to "rest" from the amazing sports and racing motorcycles and cars and breathe in the scent of distant lands and the atmosphere from long journeys completed in the saddle of a motorcycle. After all, Jaroslav also traveled more than 1,865,000 km on his travels on the day of the exhibition opening and celebrated 40 years on one track!
